Area 19
Area 19 is located in the Northwest corner of the Nevada Test Range.
It first came about as a location for large scale underground nuclear testing. No tests ever took place in this area, but fallout waste from another test was deposited above ground at Area 19 and can still be detected today.
From the mid-1960s through 1992, a total of 36 underground nuclear tests were conducted here.
It is also alleged that a single power line runs across the NTS, stops in the middle of Area 19 and disappears into the ground. No conclusive evidence has been shown for or against this claim.
